2011 rgu started leaking oil around the filter area right before 1000 mile service. dealer fixed and said part the filter screws onto has loosened up.
Now at just over 6k miles it's started marking its territory again. looks to be the same leak. oil and filter have been on just over 3k miles with no leaks up til now. Does anyone know a fix for this so it wont keep being a returning problem?
Is the filter tight? Not sure about 2011's - my '07 just has a threaded nipple the filter scres onto and the only thing that can leak is the filter gasket itself where it mates to the engine case. Do you have an aftermarket oil filter/cooler adapter? If so, maybe there are other mating surfaces that are leaking.
Not sure if overtightening the filter can cause a leak - I always tighten mine by hand and assume the dealer would too but who knows. Not knowing what an '11 looks like I can't really say what else might be leaking. Maybe someone who knows what this set up on a 2011 looks like can offer some other suggestions.
Does your bike have an oil cooler? If it does, then the oil cooler adapter has loosened up. You will have to remove your oil filter, move the adapter a bit and then re-tighten your adapter. After that, reinstall your filter.

Keep an eye on your front motor mount once you get oil on it will rot it and will need to be replaced before long.

Ok I will check the oil cooler. does anyone know if there is a way to prevent it from coming loose again. dont want to keep messing with it just want to get it fixed right and be done with this problem.
My 2007 CVO Road King has been leaking at the oil cooler adapter plate. I checked it and I could easily move it back and forth by hand. (The little line-up pin/ dowel has just a little clearance around it.) I removed the oil filter and tightened the 7/16" allen head oil filter center mount. It was about 3/4 to a full turn loose. I'm hoping this will cure it. This was last night. I haven't started it up yet. If this doesn't work, I will replace the oil cooler adapter gasket.
