Default I'm BACK!!!!!...........

Well sort of! After a year long layoff with no bike (don't ask details but we tried the family boating thing) I am now in the market for another bike. (btw they say the best days of owning a boat are the day you buy and the day you sell....its no lie!)

I have a few dilemmas. The first is the Shark Nose has really caught my interest this time around. I have never ridden a Road Glide and I am not totally wild about the looks, but done right (and I will) these are some of the best looking bikes on the road. So problem one is which model am I going to buy. The Street Glide I have already had (and everyone has one it seems like) or the Road Glide.........a new path and project and something different.

The last dilemma is what year? I loved my 08 and had zero issues with it. Is it really that important to step up to the 09 or above just for the new frame and wider rear tire? What "other" benefits are there to the newer bikes?

Thanks guys, I know I will get great responses! I can't stress enough how much I have missed this place and how great it feels to know I will be on two wheels again soon!!

Noz

Welcome back! Boating? Ah, yes I remember that... A boat is a hole in the water that you continually throw money into. Hope you decide on the right scoot for you!

I rode a batwing for 10 years , I love the ride , handling and everything about the sharknose better , the only negative I have found with the shark is if you catch rain you better get your rain gear on or you will get wet , there is no tucking in behind the fairing to stay dry , the newer frames are nice , check your budget and get the newest year that fits it , enjoy

..boating..ah, yes..been there, done that. Lots of work for a couple hours fun...and the whole time out you're watching weather, listening for any strange noise from the out-drive, getting pissed at how much fuel it uses,..wondering where the hell the fish are...bla bla bla...bike on the other hand is just so much easier to enjoy. Got an extra half hour at the end of a workday?...just jump on it and tool around town...welcome back! Since you've already had a Street Glide, I would think you would want to try something different!..try the Road Glide...what do you have to lose?..

The tsunami that went through the pacific in March ended my boat life days. We bought a house after that. It felt like I was sailor in a brig. Now we are touring the country on our Limited and I could not think of a better way to get'r'done! It is great to be able to store your stuff in closed compartments and still have a little performance along with 40+ mpg. Welcome back, good luck reestablishing your "land legs", and have fun. Life is short...

I would recommend that you go and ride a Glide. Check around to see if any dealer is doing demo days. Or, for the price of a days worth of boating you can rent a Road Glide and see if it fits.
