I agree with the masses that the ride will be more comfy on the RK...maybe even that the wife may like the ride more, but if you get the Heritage and set it up right, you both win. That's my .02.
And Texas Fat Boy...get some pics posted of that SESG!!!!!!
I would have to agree with the others, the heritage is nice, but the RK wins hands down.
Plus, if the wife is happy then you'll have more bike time...
Even if you plan on doing more solo riding, the cruise control of the Roadking is a big benefit and for two up riding the touring chassis is tough to beat. Besides if the wife aint happy, nobody is happy.
Go with the king, I have ridden the heritage 2 up with my wife and she hated it. it was an 07 . The street glide and now the limited, same frame as the king, is night and day difference. I think her being vertically challenged contributed to her being uncomfortable.

what license frame did you use and can you get a pic of how it is mounted. I want to move the tag on my limited . as I have everything detachable and lijk to strip it down, but hate the stock placement of the license

Another vote for the Road King here. Have ridden both and in my mind it's not even close. RK all the way. Plus all those rivets on the Heritage are just plain ugly! Your day trips will get longer and I bet they turn into multi-day trips soon. You'll love it. Good luck.
I had been having the same delima, Just on a sportster now, and a good day trip on it will be 200 to 250 miles. I like the look of the heritage, and the Road King, but decided that I want hard bags, and she might decide to ride on it if it were more comfortable than the sporty. My biggest concern was the Kings sit too tall, but since I have been reading of the seat changes that lower you I think the King will be all around better. Just waiting to get a few more bills paid off. 2012's looking good.
The sales guy at the local dealer saved me from buying a softail. My wife and I both really liked the softail. We had no expeirience with the touring bikes.
The salesman was adament that the wife and I would be much happier with the Road King. After about a week he had me convinced.
Man was he right, there is no comparison in two up riding between the softail and the Road King. Even solo riding is much better to me. Road King wins hands down.
I guess I'll be contrary. I thought 2 up on my 08 Fat Boy was better than on my 03 RKC.... granted, the RK has the 88 inch 5 speed. personally, I don't care for the Heritage studs and soft saddle bags.
