If you're going to be doing that kind of work the very first thing you should have is the service manual. There are torque specs and such that shouldn't be overlooked. To change the rotor you'll need to pull the rear wheel and reinstall. If you do all of this incorrectly you could end up with more than egg on your face.

Get the manual, check it out and if you have questions then come on back and ask away.

There is a way to do it without removing the wheel. Its in the manual. You have to remove the two 1/4 inch bolts that hold the pads in place for this you will need a 1/4 inch 12 point socket. then compress the pistons remove the pads and install new ones. Just remember which one goes on which side as they are different.

Subject title says "rear disc replacement". One would have to assume he is referring to the brake rotor which requires removal of the rear wheel. In his thread he talks about also replacing pads which does not require wheel removal.

Caliper is held on by the axle. The pad pins are 1/4" 12 point.

Rotor bolts are T40 torx and are installed with Loctite. Use a propane torch and heat the center of the bolt head to soften the Loctite. I've broken bits before I learned this.

Like posted above HEAT. Do not re-use the rotor bolts and get a good torque wrench.

You need to pull the axle back to get the rotor off. At that point you might as well drop the wheel. It would make it much easier to work on removal/install of the rotor

The savings you will make doing this yourself, compared with having a dealer or indy do it, are so much you will cover the cost of a factory service manual several times over. Doesn't matter how much your local dealer charges for it, smile and pay up. Don't buy any of the cheap copies. Get the parts book as well. Then we can help!
