So as I said earlier in the week I had a pinging problem with my 2011 street glide. I took some other members advice and took it to the dealer to have it looked at. I like my dealer and find their service department to be so far pretty honest. They checked it over and we came to the conclusion that with heat/humidity and riding two up the factory lean condition was causing the ping. We mutually talked about options and decided to try the factory download without the stage one air cleaner and see how that worked. Halfway through that process i changed my mind and said screw it and had them throw the stage one cleaner on figuring if I ended up at step one I would call fuel moto for a pcv. Well I got the bike back and I must say its like a different bike. To those who say the download does not do anything they werent on my anemic bike. Its like night and day with pick up and throttle response. Hills that I would lumber up found me rolling off the throttle today. All and all so far so good. Ill wait and see on the next really warm humid day how it does. I was on the fence about the download but Im glad I tried it so far. Im not one of those guys who wants every last bit of power from a motor, I just didnt want a ping, but i was pleasantly suprised with the increase in performance.
Brunswick is closer to me and I get alot of add ons from them, but I bought my bike at mcdermotts and have any work done there. So far have been really good to deal with.
Good to hear about the download......I added the Supertrapp SE slipons the other day and have already noticed a difference in feel....with the stock pipes on the engine braking on decel was very prominent...almost to the point that the whole bike would shake like hell especially in 4th.....now it is a very smooth transition...seems like a whole new bike
I received my Arlen Ness Big Sucker today and will be putting that on very soon and see what difference that makes. I'm seriously thinking about doing the d/l as well...a lot of people say it is a waste of $$ but it seems lately just as many folks are very pleased with the results they have gotten.
I agree! Many different opinions on this but my 09 street glide runs very well with the stage 1 download and rush mufflers and ness air cleaner.Unless I was doing cams or major work in the future I would consider this option.
I also have had the Stage I download (Stage I A/C and aftermarket slip-ons) done on the last few bikes I've had. To me, it's always worked great and was a good bang for the buck. What I'd like to know (Dawg???) is IF it changes your AFR and if so, how much? Aside from raiding the RPM limit, it's got to do something more than just that 'cause the improvement is quite obvious.
It's nice to hear some good things about the HD Download. I have the PCV and am more than pleased with it, but it's always nice hearing other good news stories.
Just seems like there is too much "smoke and mirrors" about the HD Download. It's hard to get accurate info on what it does. Oh well.
