New handlebars on '10 Road King
Finally, I have my new bars on my 2010 FLHR. I went with the bars off the '09 and newer Heritage Softail (56569-09). No they are not in "the book" as fitting the TBW Road King. They need to be notched for the TBW and a hole cut in the bottom for the TBW harness to exit the bars. And no these are NOT the Heritage "style" bars or the "cop bars" or the '08 and older Heritage bars. Those are all different part numbers and not even close to the same as these. And I don't care what the specs say, when the bare bars are placed one on the other they are almost identical in grip angle and width, they just have a higher rise. Before when I turned the wheel to the stop, the control (turn signal, horn, hi/low swtich) was about 1/2 inch from the console panel. Now the grip and controls are about 4 inches above that. WOW what a difference! City Cycle in Junction City KS charged me $75 for the bars, 1 hour to swap the bars, 1/2 hour to modify the bars, and NO OTHER PARTS NEEDED. So under $200.00 OTD. The clutch cable had miles of slack and the brake line has just maybe 3/4 or 1 inch slack now. If anyone has that burning between the shoulder blades after just 1 hour of riding as I did. I highly recommend the 56569-09 bars and cut them to accomodate the TBW. This is how it should have come from the factory...IMHO.
