It depends on the year of your bike. I'm not sure what year the change was made, but on my 2011 I can activate/deactivate the system myself. That is not the case for some prior years.

The minute I went from my 88 Electra to the 103 SG I noticed the difference in heat, I atributed to the fact that is 103 CI, big difference in thermal energy from the larger displacement...Just saying

Mines a 2011 dyna superglide, I think the touring models must be activated from the factory. I've been riding in 105 degree heat so I would have thought it would have come on. But I rarely sit more then a second or two idling.
