I have the 10" Windsplitter (57400092) on my Ultra and I am very pleased with it. I am 5' 10" and have a clear view over the top with very little, if any, buffeting. I tried a friend's shorter one off of his SG and although it looked really good on the bike, I had too much buffeting and my bride thought she was going to lose her helmet at highway speeds. So if momma ain't happy.... On the other side of the coin, my riding buddy also tried the 10" Windsplitter and found that the distortion through the curved part of the shield was very irritating even though he was looking over the top - seeing the white lines on the highway "bending" was too much of a distraction. It would be handy if you could "borrow" a couple of types to try out... Good luck in your decision and ride safe...
I installed one on my 10 Ultra and one on the 12 RG. Very pleased with the performance.
I had the tall standard windshields and when traveling on sunny days the shine from the front and rear of the shields and my full face helmet shield made it difficult to see at times. Now with the lower windsplitters this is no longer a problem.
I found that the wind is still deflected over my helmet but with a little side benefit. Some curves down in front of my face shield and blows the rain drops right off.
All but the biggest bugs are deflected. I was concerned that I would have to clean my face shield more on trips but this has not been the case.
I have the windsplitter on my Ultra and it works great for me, But I do wear a full face 95% of the time, even went to Vegas and back with it (1300 miles roundtrip) and no complaints.
Man that does look good! Especially with your black paint. I am currently using a 10" standard type shield. I am 6 ft and look over the top of it. I didn't think going shorter would provide enough protection. How tall are you and how well does it work protecting you from the wind and rain?
thanks for compliment. I'm 5,9 and works well and enough for me for wind and rain. It works better with SG seat or course. If you want a real protection, it's not the good one but it's for the better compromise between look and function. Hope it help
