Ok, before anyone from PETA starts flaming me, I only want to do it if it's secure, and if my pooch likes it. Just feeling out the possibilities, as I'd love to ride with one of them. They are both about 25 lbs..
We have been using a T-Bag made specifically for a small dog. Elwood is a mini long hair dachsund. It has been great and he was a hit at Rolling Thunder but I think his riding days are done, since we left him at home on this last ride and had the accident. Do what you think is best. No flame here. Dogs love to be with you.
There are a couple guys I have met several times on PGR missions that have their dogs with them. One is a medium sized dog that sits in a sort of dog bed on the pillion of an Ultra, wears goggles and a helmet. I am sure the whatever he uses is secured in some fashion. The other is a smaller dog and the guy modified his Tourpak by cutting a hole and the dog just keeps its head poked through it.
I use and highly recommend the Beastrider carrier for dogs. My long hair doxie has ridden all over the country with me and really enjoys riding and his Beastrider carrier.
theres a guy around charlotte,nc i believe he's got a custom chopper but his jack russell sits in front of him with his front paws on the tank and also wears a helmet and googles. i wouldnt have believed it if i didnt see it myself.
I wish I had the photos of the bike with the dog on it, but I did take a couple of pix of a Scotter riding dog" at San Diego Harley Davidson in 2005.
The owner had a trailer behind his bike for the dogs bike, and the dog rode in a rear mounted carrier on the HD.
THe dogs bike is electric and radio controlled, and the dog liiked like he wqs having a good time.
