02 ultra speedo problems..

02 ultra speedo problems..
a friend of mine haS a 02 ultra and now has a speedo problem.it will stop working while riding and at the same time the stereo will die down like its losing volume.this will last for maybe a minute and then everything returns to normal.any ideas what to look for.

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). I'll bet his turn signals will not self-cancel either. You can try to clean it. Many times the magnet of the sensor builds up with metal shavings from the transmission. cleaning only worked for a short period for me before I had to replace it.

it's on top on the tranmission, under the starter.
