Default another americam elite e3 question

Some of these tire places confuse the hell out of me. I ask about the american elite tire and get a price, I then ask if its the e3 and all they say is its american elite, looking at the dunlop fitment guide it gives me 2 choices the 407-408 without hd logo which is same tires as I have, or regular bias ply american elite with exact same tire dimensions as the 407-408 tread looks abit different but bet its same internally. got 21000 mile on rear original 407 and boy the bottom is pretty flat or square now. the front is fairly new with about 4000 miles on it, it was a 407 but got changed in the tire recall thing last fall, Im leaving the front 408 for now, dont really like it still feel the bumping as rain grooves hit the ground while turning as the 407 did. I will be changing probably next spring.
I see that there are indeed e3 tires on dunlop site only listing are radials and the tire sizes is slightly different,
front is a 150\80r17 3.5 rim 26.77d 6.16 wide
rear is 180\60r16 5 rim 24.39d 7.16 w
the american elite regular is 130\80b17 3.5 rim 25.2 d 5.08w
rear is 180\65b16 5 rim 25.33d 7.19w
so the rear is .94 lower or almost and inch lower width pretty well identical
front is 1.75 or 1-3\4 bigger width is 1.8 wider
the inch lower in the back and 1.75 higher in the front is going to change the rake quite a bit and speedo will be off a bit too,
I keep seeing posts about the e3 tires has anyone put theses on the bike or are they using the regular american elites ,
If any one has the e3 on can you verify my tire dimensions and any problems the rake change or speedo may have been caused by the e3 sizes

The American Elite is a totally differant tire. It is a duel compound tire as is the HD branded tire on the 09's and later. The tread design is a tad differant and it comes in Black wall only. In my opinion it is a better tire than came on my 09.

Default I see

the dimension thing may be a bit off since the distance from the axel to the ground is the only side changing the dimension, so the hight change is half of what i figured originally, and the e3 not showing up in fitment guide explains the 08 earlier thing thanks, thats why i see posts on the e3 didnt notice the year of bike in posts,
still curious if anyone actually put these on an 2009 ultra , would be a tight squeeze under the front fender I bet.
thanks dttglide and hojones

This is a Dunlop American Elite I've ordered, but it's not an E3. It is a duel compound tire for longer wear and higher mileage.
180/65B-16 (81H) Dunlop American Elite Rear Motorcycle Tire.

Default pic of 407 baldini

here is a pic of my original 407 rear got 34,100km or 21,188 miles out of it. also took rear brake shoes off and they are down to paper thin layer of the brake material before it hits the metal backing plate, going to get a tire tomorrow night for it. bought shoes in winter for the bike but the knuckle head at the store gave me the wrong shoes, got which looks like the last version before the brembo abs ones I have. Now I have go back and exchange them. just washed the 407 and rim up and noticed there isnt any balance weights on rim it was smooth as silk too, hope new tire wont need any and saves sticking weights on my chrome rims

Default here it is

well got the new tire, meaty looking tread just hope I get at least 18000 miles out of it since I got 21000 out of the 407 kind of late right now still have to put the tire on the bike. cost 285 can which isnt too bad since everyone in my area wants 335 for it. 25 for inst and bal. think Iwill look at ordering the front from website, unfortunately I needed a rear tire right away,

I think I'm going to replace my rear with an American Elite; but can I keep the D408F for the front? I have a lot of tread left on the front and I have a new D408F already and I don't want to waste it.

I've run different tires on front and rear many times with no ill effects for years.

Yeah; I figured it would be okay. My Triumph Bonneville comes from the factory with different tires. I really want the narrow white strip but the cost of the OEM D407 is nuts. I ordered the American Elite from Dennis Kirk just now for $171. I guess I'll have to live without the white stripe.
