I have an 06' Ultra with an XM antenna installed on batwing in fairing(
GXM 30 XM Smart Antenna). Recently it keeps asking me to check XM antenna conncetion. I am thinking there is a probvlem with either the contacts on the bottom of Zumo 550 or the cradle. Anybody else experienced this? I also took fairing off and installed a different cable from antenna to Zumo, to no avail. Do the Hockey puck antennas go bad?
i had an antenna go bad a few years ago, it was an early delphi ski fi antenna with sat/terrestrial antennas.
It may have been a failure in the cable
don't know if this applies to you
if it's contacts, you can clean them with a pencil eraser ( don't use chemical contact cleaners, some of them EAT plastic- destroying your device)
even better for contacts is a "nick-sand" fiberglass pencil at pepboys with the auto body paint supplies.
radio shack sells same unit, different trade name at twice the price
I would get that once in a while, make sure you clean the contacts on the Zumo550 where it connects to the mount, and also try spraying some tuner cleaner on the usb connector that plugs into the mount for the gsm30.
