Okay all you electrical guru's out there.....take a gander at the photo and tell me what caused these head light plugs in my 08 RG to melt like that. The worst part is in the ground connector. No, it ain't a short either.....
Poor contacts cause this , blade connectors are not the best but the easiest to use . You can see the ones damaged are Opened up so they must have got real hot. A small amount of Dielectric grease will help this . There is a slight chance the Bulbs being over rated as well but normally it's just a not so tight connection at the blade.

DING, DING, DING, DING.....WE HAVE A WINNA!!!!! The cheap thin tinny spade connecters used in the stock plugs loosen pretty easily, which, as ImNoPrince points out, causes a high heat to build up around the connection. A trip to auto zone to buy some heavy duty, well built plugs with heavy spade connectors will be replacing these melted stockers. I shouldn't be having this problem again.
I bought a bulb last week thinking it was out. No, same problem as yours. Ordered new one from HD. I went staight to the bulb with the wires and connectors. Taped off real good , and back riding till the connector comes in. Had a feeling that being loose might have had something to do with it. Dealer said he had seen that before. I have all kinds of those little connectors and none that size, typical huh?
Kroozeabout.
