Given my unique paint color finding a tour pack on E-bay that matches doesn't seem to be an option. While I no doubt would save $$ going the Kuryakyn route I do have the money to get the tour pack. Thoughts???

What do you think?

It is worth it. Try to get it on sale thou. I never take my chopped pack off.
In my opinon the chopped looks better on the road kings but to each his own. It is about 3" shorter I didnt notice any difference in the way the bike handled at all with it on. Mine is in my sig it is mounted a little higher due to the police saddlebags but you get the idea.

In my frank opinion, which might not be that popular, is that they look stupid on Road Kings.

Honestly, I'm not into them at all, unless you have a partner that rides with you all the time. Another unpopular opinion I'm sure, is that I think a guy that rides around solo 90% of the time with a big two-up tour pack looks ridiculous as well. Or it says, "look, my wife let me buy a Harley."

I only use the Tourpak for road trips most of the time, but i also use it if I need to go shopping and carry alot of stuff. It's WONDERFUL when needed. I have lots of detachable items, so the bike morphs into whatever form I need it to be for a trip or just my mood for that day or week. That's the beauty of a Road King, it's extremely versatile with the detachable hardware.

I agree with most of what you said, but I must say that Boneziffs above with the chopped tour pack on the black bike is about the best look I have seen as far as tour packs go.

I am blessed to have a fiancé that rides her own bike so we don't need a tour pack most of the time. With that said I can see that those that ride mostly two up would see a need for one.

Couldn't imagine going back to not having a tour-pak on my bike...

I started with the detachable hardware setup, and now I have it permanently mounted.

Most times I do not have the sissy bar and roll pack on, I just leave the rear rack on. The RK is sure sweet looking when running clean. One thing I do use all the time, the backrest and boy does that help.

But when I can on the road for 2 to 14 days, you can't beat the fugly look.

For the winter I just purchased a Reckless fairing and will pop it on this weekend and ride in the rain to see how well it does at keeping me warmer (and listen to traffic reports). That write up with photos will be posted later.
