Hello again to my bretheren...
another question I figure you guys can help me out with.
I picked up an 03 anniversary tour pack to match my 03 FLHT.While I was installing it I turned the quick disconnect cams onto the mounting points and thought I did a fine job...until I tried to remove it.It was then I realized the cams had a locking mechanism. This was the first I had heard of a locking setup on the cams.
My question is,now that the tour pack is locked on,can you give me a little background on the keys I need.I am assuming there is a different key than the fork lock but are the keys lock specific or will any cam key work?
from reading the description, i would think that those keys would not fit. otherwise, why offer key registration/replacement?
You're right, I didn't bother reading the description. It appears that they probably would not fit. Ah well, for $46 he can dremel cut the cams off and then replace them with his new cams/keys.
no dremel needed I can unbolt the docking point and then unbolt the cams.I am curious as to what it will take to use whats there and save a few bucks.I will be calling the manufacturer later on today.Oh the joys of HD engineering.
That is the exact locks I have.
The question is..if I purchase a new lock will the new key operate the current cam locks or is that wishful thinking?
It's not a particularly complicated lock and I doubt that there are many "combinations" some maybe an acquaintance or the dealer has a key that will fit. Frankly they are a PIA to operate and of dubious security. I guess they would slow a thief down but not stop one with time on his/her hands. I just looked at mine and appears that the proper sized torx bit, looks like the 27? and a very narrow vice grips on the inside nut plate, might remove the bolt.

I do appreciate you looking and I luckily have that connect at the dealer so I feel this will be rectified. From what I can tell ,so far, there are 4 combinations to the keys now I have to hope the two cams are keyed the same.I also agree as to the dubious nature of the security. If they want it bad enough they can get anything......but I dont want to make it easy.
Thanks to all of you for the input.I will let you know what I find out.
