How did the Powerflex head pipe work out?
Is the center section cut and replaced, or is it cut open, cleaned out, and re-welded?
Is the welded areas painted, coated, plated, bare?
I got just the bomber slip-ons, and glad I did. I don't have a lot of cash right now for a tuner, and I'm afraid my bike would need one if I did both mufflers and head pipes. I love the sound, but I'm getting a lot more decel pop than I used to. I'm having them ship me the mid-rumble baffles in exchange for part of my core refund to see if that will stop it until I can afford some xieds or a stage 1 tune.
Well, the mid-rumble baffles came in today. They completely stopped the decel pop that was going on, and the bike runs really good right now.
The only problem is, the baffles made them almost as quiet as the stock pipes. A little deeper tone, but I can once again hear the engine noise over the pipes.
So, I'm going to try and drill out the holes a bit in the baffles to see if I can get a nice compromise between performance and sound. Anyone else done this?
I drilled more holes in my Bomber's baffles and am still fairly quiet. Each flat(mashed together part) has a 5/16" hole, and , so far, have 4 extra 5/16" hole in each baffle. I'm going to add two more 5/16" holes in each baffle for a little more sound.
Today I drilled some more holes in mine. They came with 12 holes in them, mine now have 18. I added another row of six around the circumference. Biggest bit I had was 1/4" though, instead of the 3/8" they put in them. Sounds a lot better. Not as loud as without them, but louder than they were with a nice rumble. And, the decel popping didn't come back.
I bet I looked funny out there riding this evening after we got a inch of snow last night. Glad the streets were dry.
