Default road glide stereo (need more sound)

I have a stock stereo and speakers on my 05 RG...i am looking for more sound with least expensive route....I hate the fact that because its a Harely that aftermartket companys gouge us with pricing of their products...and im sure im not the only one....so who found WHAT that makes a much improved listening experience without spending 500-800 bucks on a amp and speakers....
do the biketronic bt speakers really work that much better, or the JM speakers, or would it be better to put in a biketronic sony head unit....or is there something different all together....anotyher product or company or private individual that is doing something even better that is less expensive....
Im hoping to do this only once...as i hate taking that big *** RG fairing off...

Least expensive is the HD Boom replacement speakers MSRP 149.00. I put them in my bike and an happy with them. At 75 mph I dont have to exceed 50% vol to clearly hear them now. Compared to the stock speakers to get the same vol i would have to be at about 90%. They still dont have a lot of bass but for the $ Im happy with the improvement.

They are an easy plug and play replacement

On my 2005 Roadie the first thing I did was put in a set of hog tunes for my bike, really blew the stock speakers away as far as bass and volume went. I've slowly added more hogg tune stuff (amp and later on a lowers speaker kit) to my bike as money and desire allowed, she sounds pretty sweet now going down the road...a lot of systems out there that'll blow mine away but then I didn't spend a fortune either.

Dont waste your money on the J&M 5.25" speakers unless you really high end with no bass. I was/am very disappointed with them. I'm picking up some Hogtunes tomorrow.

You can get a pretty decent setup for less than 500. 2 sets of speakers will run you 200 or less. Thats 100 for each pair. Right now amazon is selling the Rockford fosgate pbr300x4 for 166.00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A232DEXWNE9181

Wiring will run you about 50 bucks. Thats a total of 416. You can go even cheaper and get a decent set of speakers for 50-75 bucks each.

Plenty of 5.25" speakers out there for less than $150.00.

I don't know if the HD Boom units fit 2005 and earlier ( 8 ohm speakers,) as they do the Harmon Kardon 2006 and up ( 2 ohm speakers. )

I'm looking at the J&M 3 way replacements for my '00 Road Glide. They have 8 ohm units and EBay has them for about $130.

Exclamation Speakers are.....

......less expensive but a new windshield is a hellofa lot easier to install.
I thought I was, for sure, gonna need new speakers.
Then I got a taller windshield.
Oh what a difference!
Only took about 15 minutes to install too.
