who makes a decent bike jack that for a reasonable price? i am gonna be doing some work over the winter and looking for a decent jack to help me work on my SG.. I've seen sears, harbor freight....
do they all have a way to secure the bike to the jack?
ANy suggestions ??
You will get a lot of opinions on this. I have the HF I have been using on my SG for the last 2 years. I have used it to swap wheels, forks, and all my maintenance. I never had it fall off and for the price it has worked very well for me. Yes the Pitbull and J&S are very nice, but again the much cheaper HF has worked very well for me
I've had the J&S and the Sears. There IS NO COMPARISON if you want a quality jack. Get the J&S. Anything else is lesser engineered, so it is cheaper, but at the end of the day a "just get by" rig. If you have the room, you might consider a full sized lift. That's the Cadillac way to go if you can swing it!
I have an HF. I only paid $60 for it. Like all jacks, it has points to hook a ratchet strap to secure it to the jack. For what I need it for,it's fine.
I have the Craftsman, red jack, $100....have used it for 9 years for my previous bike no problems with jack or using it to work on bike, now I'm using it for my HD. Came with 2 straps and mounting points on the jack for even more securement f necessary.
I bought a Harbor Freight jack, and when I took it out of the box to assemble, I laughed and returned it to the store. There was no way I was going to put my over priced bike on that piece of crap... I am still saving for the Pitbull or J&S...
