Six words to describe such a simple product - that's a long name! Anyway, I bought these a few weeks ago and just now got around to taking some real-life pictures. I don't know why HD doesn't make these standard (OK, yeah I do...), because they finally make the glove boxes useful.
Aren't you tired of the stock doors falling off into your hands when you try to open them? These new magnetic doors solve that problem. About 15 minutes to install. Part Number 57100198, $49.95 (of course).

I was going to get those when they first came out........ then, I started thinking about how I'm always getting into the fairing boxes (Road Glide) while cooking down the highway (not a great idea with the handlebars in the way). So I went for a little ride and "pretended" to reach down to get something out of the lowers glove box. I could see that as being an accident waiting to happen.
So to compromise, I riveted on some "REAL" snaps on the boxes. They now stay shut, and securely snap into place without a fight.
The magnetic ones do look nice though.

Put these on my ride last week. Makes the lowers more easily accessible for gloves, towel, sunglasses, etc. Not appropriate for secure storage or mounting a drink holder like the lockable ones. Biggest problem is getting the old snaps off. Finally was able to cut the back off with a small set of wire cutters.
I was going to make doors from mine using galvanized metal covered in vinyl. I's have to have a lip to grab the bottom and a lock for the top.
Seeing these, I'm wondering if you could stiffen them up with a metal/plastic backing, put a lock on top, and then mount a drink holder to the outside. Would the hinge at the bottom hold up, do you think?
I went with the HD locking doors. Now I feel comfortable leaving my insurance information/registration in a convenient, secure location. Frankly, it would almost be ideal to have ONE locking door, and have the other with the magnetic doors for easy, quick access. But that's just me.
