I wouldn't throw the stage 1 into the deal unless you're buying the bike cash, then you end up paying interest on the stage 1, doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Just my $0.02

As for price , price varies from area to area, and lot of dealers only sell at MSRP. Go to all the local dealers to you and see who gives you the best price, go from there.

Pricing is going to vary across the country. Just because I can get a good deal in the winter in Kansas doesn't mean someone in Cali will. You should be able to buy all day long at MSRP. I bought my 11 RKC 2 weeks ago for $1k under MSRP. The popping is not normal. If you are not mechanically inclined then by all means work the stage 1 into the deal.

In regard to your question of whether to buy a Limited--Go For It. I bought one in July of this year and what a bike. Power is more then ample whether two up or single. You get ABS, security system,chrome wheels, luggage rack and of course the 103 engine. Add in cruise control,CB radio for talking to the truckers or others in your group, add a drivers backrest for ultimate comfort and highway pegs and you are in Heaven.

I paid 2200.00 under suggested list price because the 2012's were already out. No set-up fee, paperwork fee,or other fees just tax and plates. Bought from Town and Country in Cement city,Michigan. 10% off extended warranty's too which were all cheaper then competing dealers. a like 2012 would have been 1000.00 more. Oh yes, don't forget Heated Grips- lots of extras over the standard Ultra that individually would add big bucks.

You won't go wrong with a limited.

2011 Limited here. Replaced the head pipe on mine to lower right side heat and increase sound. If you pay list do not let them add a bunch to deal and see what extras they will throw in. Most dealers around here will through in some free routine maintenance and a gift card along with accessory discounts.

+1 on the detachable hardware for the tour pak. I find myself leaving mine on all the time because I like it, but it is nice to have the option to remove it quickly, especially when cleaning her up.

in the last few days, I am sure that dealers willnot be moving very far from MSRP. You might be able to get freight and setup charges reduced or removed. Two years ago when I was looking at Limiteds, I had a dealer tell me to sign now because every Limited after that would have lots of extras loaded on it. I left that dealer and bought from another.

This is great help! Thanks for all the input. My thought on getting the header pipe done before pu was that it would be covered under warranty and of course it would be done. But, I am an old wrencher from way back and really would prefer to do my own work when possible. One dealer has offered 600 off MSRP but added freight and setup or 1K off parts accessories or apparel in store. I've been to a few dealers around and they are all about the same distance away from me, another is getting back to me with special fall savings?? What ever that will be. So I'm hoping to do the deed as soon as I can find the right colour and best discount. Do you find it better service to go to the dealer you bought from, I would think so? Loyalist and all.
Also am I correct in thinking that stage 1 is pipes(removing cat) airflow, and tuning? Stage 2 would be that plus cams?

You can do a search on here and find out everything you need to know about the differences between stage 1 and stage 2. If your set on a certain color, have the dealer locate the bike you want in the color you want. Thats their job! Shouldn't make any difference in price when your all said and done. If it does, walk.
I got a thousand bux worth of HD chrome doo dads, accessories, a $20,000 t shirt and a HD ball point pen that I signed my paperwork with when I paid sticker for my 11 FLHRC. Happy as hell with it tho!

Sounds like i need to get them to sweeten the deal with the T shirt and Pen at least.
Has anyone bought a 2011 and traded for a 2012? If so how much of a hit did you take on the trade in??
Thanks hope to be riding soon.

I just bought a 2011 FLHTK a few weeks ago. MSRP was $24,400 if I remember correctly. After all the wheeling and dealing I got $2200 off the MSRP. I added the engine fan kit to help cool the beast and a heated seat. Tax, Tags, Title, prep and all other costs the total out the door and on the road price was $27,500.00. A LOT of money. But also a lot of bike. I am not complaining, I knew what I was doing. I also wanted to keep the bike as close to stock as possible but the heat issue for me was almost a deal breaker. I still had to add in floorboard extensions and now I am very happy with my expensive ride. I did not trade in my Yamaha V-Star 1300 cruiser because I know a cruiser is not the same as a tourer. And a Tourer is not the same as a cruiser. The Cruiser is paid for and costs me only upkeep and insurance. I am learning that one needs a stable of bikes to ride, not just one!
