I don't own a Limited, just a "regular" Ultra with ABS. Price wise, now that both the Ultra and the Limited have the 103" and the oil cooler you might want to make sure that the add-ons of the Limited are worth the price difference for you.
Personally, I couldn't care less about 1/2 chrome wheels. I'd rather have chrome forks. Heated grips? Thanks but I'll take heated gloves any day. TourPak rack? yes. ABS? yes. Security? yes. Is it worth the $2,000 between the 2 bikes? Not for me, but you might think differently.

Now, whoever told you that a Stage 1 will take care of the heat is misleading you.
Heat has nothing to do with airflow. Heat has to do with the catalytic converter in the headers and with the fact that the bikes are tuned very lean at the factory to meet EPA regulations. The best way to reduce heat is to ditch the catalytic converter, install true duals (2-2) instead of the stock 2-1-2 headers, and to run richer. To run richer, you need a fuel management system with the proper A/F mixture.

Hope that helps.

OK so now getting closer. I was thinking that it would be best to have dealer install cat less header pipes, A/C , Cams and tuner, so that would all be covered under warranty. Is this a good plan? Otherwise I would have done everything other having it tuned and dynode myself, but if its warrantied at time of purchase, that may be a good thing.
Also I am going to get a 2 inch longer pullback set of bars added and then it should be just right. Any thought on fuel management/tuner's to go for?
Thanks again for all the assistance, give me a couple of months after getting it and I'll be right up to speed with all the new gizmos.

You should check if the dealer will install anything other than the Screamin' Eagle tuner, and if so, which one(s) that they have experience with. Some dealers will install and tune Power Commanders as well as the Screamin' Eagle and some will only do HD parts (and the tune will just a download of a canned map).

For me it was the StreetGlide. Ride one before you buy the Ultra or the Limited. Easily add a removeable tourpak for long haul touring, take it off for tooling around home.

Harley's business is coming back and production of new bikes, especially touring models, is going to be, well, LIMITED, so dont expect to see much IF ANY off MSRP for 2012 or 2013 (when the watercooled models are introduced, LOL!!!)

May I suggest to get an itemized list of all you want before starting negotiations. My 2" handle bars cost 4 hours of labor at $99 an hr. and that was after the bars were purchased for about $150.00

My point is...(if I actually have a point ) after all is added up , upgraded speakers, exhaust , cams, fuel controller etc etc... ... You may be in the CVO price range The CVO offers everything the LTD has and much more and my guess is for right around the same monies as the limited with all the mods you'll want to do

Hmm Good point on the CVO I'll price it out but as I remember from first look it was about 10K more, whew! So am I to understand that the Screaming Eagle tuner is not that great and I should look at something else instead?

You'll find that some folks love em. I opted for the PC V.

True the CVO ultra is about 37K. and it's not for everyone, but take a stock limited around 25K, add stage 2, and upgrde the sound sys, make some ergo changes and some cosmetic upgrades and you will have another 10K invested before ya know it assuming the dlr is doing the labor. Keeping in mind the CVO has a 110ci engine, and performance upgrades shouldnt be necssary.

The Root Beer color is what caught my eye at the dealership. Otherwise I would have just walked on by and never looked twice! Be careful looking at these things, they can cause you to do some extra spending if you're not careful! Good luck with your decision making. Tough choices to make. Like a little kid in a penny candy store with a $100.00 bill! Don't know what to buy first!

For what its worth, I have had my 2011 Limited for a little over a year now with no problems at all. I added the XM radio and the Boom speakers front and rear. I have can hear the radio just fine at freeway speeds (85 or so). It will be interesting if that that will hold true after I install my Jackpot head pipes and Monter Rounds in a couple of weeks. The extra options as mentioned above are well worth stepping up to the Limited. I do a couple of 1000 mile plus rides a year, a lot of shorter rides, and ried almost daily around the valley and haven't minded the trunk. Comes in handy more times that you might think for crap you decide to buy at the store.

Some day I want to build a "Bar Hopper" for local and short rides. In the mean time, I love my Limited.
