SE still makes a race tuner

screamin’ eagle® Pro suPer tuner 3
Get the biggest advantage at the race track with the
Screamin’ eagle® Pro eFI Super tuner. the hardware and
software in the Super tuner makes eFI tuning easier with
dozens of innovative tuning enhancements. Super tuner is
available in 8 languages (english, Spanish, German, French,
Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch), and is compatible
with Windows® XP, Vista® and Windows 7. the Super tuner
includes an ergonomically improved Vehicle Communication
Interface (VCI) box. the new VCI allows uSB connectivity to
your PC and contains on board memory for a full 15 minutes

recording is conveniently activated with a push of a button,
allowing the VCI to be taken to the track to gather data during
true race conditions. Cable Kit (P/n 32184-08) is sold separately
and provides all necessary connections between
Motorcycle, VCI, and PC / Laptop. the Super tuner Software
is easy to use with a large icon layout, compatible with touch
screen laptops, the ability to work in 4 windows (tables) at
one time, and enhanced help tools to keep you on track. Data
and tuning functions are combined into a single application,
ensuring you are only 2 clicks away from any major tuning
function. With a click of a button, the software automatically
connects to the internet and updates to the most current
version as well as retrieves the newest calibrations developed
by professional Screamin’ eagle calibrators. Software
contains built-in model recognition that filters calibrations,
listing those that are applicable to your model. State-of-theart
graphing capabilities illustrate tables clearly, highlighting
areas for improvement, and are fully scalable and customizable.

curtis you're wrong with the screamin eagle pro super tuner, aka sepst. you can dial in any settings you want with a laptop. the harley parts and accessory catalog lists the cables and cd rom that allows you to do this. the sepst also comes with a little orange box that you leave in the saddlebag which can record your riding habits and self tune. i bought into the power commander=pc-5 when they first came out, and wasn't impressed with the canned maps. it seemed to be generic at best. i went with the sepst and it's a big difference because it's only made for the harley, brand specific. the pcv is, from what i understand, one size fits all, with the pigtail being the only difference. jamie may chime in and give more information, but that's been my experience with both tuners. also the pcv is a bugger to run the wires from the ecm to the box, and it's velcroed in place. seemed pretty cheezy to me anyway.

thanks guys
The context of the advice was probably correct. The Power Commander is a fine tuning device but the TTS (formerly SERT), SESPT and the newer PowerVision from DynoJet will allow you a much larger tuning range and these devices update the settings in the ECM where the Power Commander simply receives data from the ECM, modifies it to the PC settings and sends it forward.

The main thing that makes the other devices "better" is that you don't have any additional equipment in the middle (no additional hardware on the bike) and the ability more efficiently tune your engine because of more settings that can be modified.

The best unit to choose would be the one that a competent tuner suggests they like the best.

either one is only as good as the # you (or your dyno guy) put in it.sert is a better system, but if you take it to an average dyno guy youll get an average tune, no better than the tune youd get on a pc.and for most stg1 and cammed bikes you wont know the difference if its tuned propely with either one(except in your wallet).one exception would be tts if u plan on changing gearing tts has a easy to use way to set up your tune for the speedo and 6th gear light and cruise control.

Default Sert

I just installed a stage 1 breather, vance and hines pro pipe and had the SERT dyno'ed at a dealer. Starting HP was 61, TQ 75...After tuning the end result was 78 HP and 94 TQ....not bad. The throttle response is better and the bike pulls all through the rpm range which is now up to 6200...

I researched the Thunder Max and fuel pak as well....the SERT seemed to be the best bang for my buck.
