Hey,you have to keep in mind 4000 mi is like a new bike.I would rather have a 4k 2006 than a 15-25k mi 08.The price is not terrably high.It has the extras you like and its your color.I have the same bike and love it.I was concerned about the 5 spd also, but have no issues with it on the highway. The only thing I would think about is a stabilizer link.I have a progressive unit and have no wobble issues at hot speeds in corners. The 88/5spd is a pretty solid setup.Did 1000 miles of open hiway last week cruising 77-83 mph for miles.Never looked for another gear like i used to on my softails.I think the SG has a much better gear ratio for cruising.
With only 4k miles on it, plus all the extras you would add on anyway, I dont see the $15k as being out of alignment, considering '06 was the firts year of SG and it was the 2nd most expensive bike that year, toped only by the Ultra. If you like it and it's in good shape, do it. Love my 06 SG, get a good tune on that stage I and you'll love it too.
I agree, lots of nice extra's already done, and expenses you wont have to incur.
I sought out an 06 because I wanted an 88" mostly because they are much cooler running. Has enough power for me.
I test rode lots of bikes including the new frames when I shopping, I didn't feel much of a ride difference, but I did feel the heat on the 96's and 103's.
But that is only my opinion. I bought what I wanted, you should do whatever will make you happy.
Thanks for the replies. It's rough finding the color i want with low Mileage and upgrades i want. This bike probably at least cost $19.000.00 new and then with the accessories and upgrades I'm sure this guy is into this bike another $2300.00. If he paid a dealer for labor I'm sure it's more, It's fairly close to me and looks to be well taken care of. It does seem a bit high ??? It's not a steal by any means !!! but it's got most of what i want and a whole lot of life ahead of it. I want something to ride not rebuild. If i can get him down i think its a no brainer. I just really like the idea of a six speed. I always wanted another gear on my softails.
I own an 06 SG. I bought it back in July and paid $11200 OTD with only 4950 miles on it and nearly stock. With the added Stg 1 does add a bit, but not to the tune of $15000. Its the end of the riding season...haggle them down.
Well with mileage that low it's pretty buck just broken in. And sure the six speed is awesome but they have been building durable 5 speeds forever. Personally the 6th gear is a highway gear only and useless on a stock bike til at least 70 mph. The 6 speed will get slightly better mileage on the highway. It's a tough call. Seasons over man and people will be selling their bikes all winter. I say hold out until you find EXACTLY what you want.
my buddy is selling his 07 SG, 14k on the clock, only mods are rush slip ons..
been serviced at our local harley dealer for everything
he was looking to get $14500 for it.
go ahead and get your 06 the 6th gear is way over rated.
My 03/88 with stage 1, runs. 2800@65, 3200@74. That is right in the sweet spot. Unless you run over 80 a lot, get the 06. I paid $13,700 in January, and bought it from a dealer. January in WI was a great time to look. Oh, the bike had 2090 miles and looked brand new.
