Default Go 06 or Wait ????

I'm hunting right now for a Street Glide and found a 06 with less than 4000 miles on it and it has a lot of expenses that i would add already on there like Rinehart true duals, stage 1, power commander, detachable sissy/luggage and a few other little do-dads. guy wants $15,000.00. Also the color i want.
being a 88 / 5 speed. I always felt like i needed another gear on the Highway with my 03 Fatboy. After all the reading I've done I'm starting to question if the 96 / 6 speed is all it's marketed to be ????? and worth the increase in $$$ to try and find a 07 / 08 / 09 in the 15G range. With less than 4 g's on this thing and it is clean as a whistle it's very tempting to jump on this thing ? Fly by wire is a non issue with me (could care less about that) It's not having the larger engine and 6 speed is whats making me hesitant.

I would love to hear opinions of people that have experience with both.

TO O6 OR NOT ?????

I had 2 o6 s.g. Both ran well in one I put s$s 510 gear drive cams in ,and it ran great. The new frame is a much better improvement , but get what you can afford. $15 seems a little high to me . I payed that for one 3 years ago.

15k is a little high for a 06. My 07 SG with 45,000 miles cost me 13,000. There are some 07's and 08's around here for 13,500 to 15,000. Keep looking. It took me 3 months before I found the one I wanted. I'm glad I waited.

I wouldn't pay 15K for a 2006. The 96" seems to have more low end torque than a stock 88". But if you do a 95" kit on the 88" it will run off and hide from the 88". Spend the same extra money and do a 107" kit on the 96". Same results. I like the six speed. Go for at least an 2008 and get the bigger gas tank/96"/6 speed. TBW is a none issue to me still after 4 years. You should find 1 for around the same money. Winters almost here. Prices will fall in a bad economy. Lots of used bikes for sale. What part of Missouri are you in?

I got 06 RKC 11,000 mi. Rhineharts tri duals, tour pack, stage 1, and lots of other extras for $12,500. 88 inch 5 speed is not a big deal to me, but I'm not a kid either. Look around, I drove a couple hundred miles to get this one.

There's a big difference in weight between the '06 and the current models. Take that into consideration. Most of the increase in engine size just goes to push more mass.

'06 TC 88 819 lbs

'07 TC 96 840 lbs

08 TC 96 851 lbs

09 and up TC 96/103 889 lbs

Edit: Weights above are for an Ultra. Your Street Glide would be similar, less the top case.

With only 4k miles on it, plus all the extras you would add on anyway, I dont see the $15k as being out of alignment, considering '06 was the firts year of SG and it was the 2nd most expensive bike that year, toped only by the Ultra. If you like it and it's in good shape, do it. Love my 06 SG, get a good tune on that stage I and you'll love it too.

I currently own an 05 with a 95" kit that eats 110s and most crotch rockets alive. I also have an 06 model thats still 88". You couldnt give me a 07 or 08 model if thats what I had to ride. As far as 09 up to get the "new improved" frame, i dont see it. Ive ridden 9s 10s and 11s and the difference is not worth the money or the headache with all the problems they have. IMO the 06 with 4000 miles is worth more than an 09 with 100 miles! Get the price whittled down a little and BUY IT!
