In that I will never own a motorcycle with a cast crankshaft, it's only '06 and older for me from now on.
The 6 speeds make the riders feel better, but there is no benefit to the motorcycle: Twin cams WANT to run at 2800 and up, and riders like to lug them down. And no better fuel economy on top of it all. Take the 06
I got my 06 SG two years ago with 3500 miles on it and paid $14k. Stage 1, Det sissy bar, rider backrest, 3 pouch windshield bag, and Supertrapp SE mufflers. I keep looking at newer ones but don't think it would be wise. More debt and not much gain. From what I hear a set of cams helps alot with the 88 and the 5 speed only makes 300 rpm difference at 75mph. $15k did sound a little high.
When the snow flies......the prices drop. Wait a few weeks. That 15k price is too high.
Also, you need a 6th gear. Have to have it. The 06 is two engines behind. Don't buy it. At a minimum buy 09 with the 96 ci.
Call BS on that one. Maybe some, but definitely NOT most
Guess i should have worded that differently. By MOST I meant most that i encounter in my area of riding. Not many Busas around here. Top end we all know the outcome but in the 1/8mi I win 1/4 mile its a toss up.
I love my 06 with 5 speed and 88. Id offer the guy $13,000 for it. Thats what I paid for mine with all the extras. Seems to be the going rate. The last year of a motor should be the most reliable.

Still don't think so. Any stock 600cc crotch rocket will beat almost ANY built Harley. I had one as a second bike for a lot of years and NEVER had any Harley come anywhere close to me light to light or anywhere else. You can't beat the power to weight ratio...
To be honest I rarely use the 6th speed. Unless I am on the open road with no one around me. I like the quicker response of 5th gear. I do think that 15k for an 06 is too much to pay. I know you say it has the stage 1 but I bet that 90% of the bikes have that. But at the end of the day it's your money and if you feel that you want the bike for that price then go for it. either way you will have fun
Alright Damn It !!!! I want a low mileage 08 street glide in Vivid Black, Rinehart true duals, stage one, lowered "because I'm a short bastard" 12" apes... I have cash $ and prefer not to travel to far to get it. I'm in ofallon Mo.
I bought my 06 last year with really low miles. I have dumped a LOT of money into it that I will never see again. Put a good 2-1 exhaust and some cams in it, and you will be very surprised at what a stump puller you'll have.
