Default 2007 recall question.

I purchased a '07 Ultra Classic. I took it to the dealer with 91 miles on it, and am having the 103 stage II installed. I asked the dealer if I need the recall for ECM performed. They said it's not needed, since the upgrade software for the 103 will overwrite it anyways. Does anyone know if this is true?? It seems like I'm always getting told a lot of BS from them. Thanks

But you trust them with the work on your bike.

Good Luck

If you don't trust them, don't let them work on you scoot. But that does sound right, because they have to do a new down load when you go to the 103. Good luck, let us know how you like the upgrade.

gdbro4

from the little i know ,there are two issues here

one is the ecm that is on your bike

the other is the new chip or pc111 or whatever.

the ecm runs your bike

the chip makes some minor changes to the instructions that your ecm has .and overrides some of those instructions.

but, the ecm is the main element here and the one that really rules .

the chip just tells the ecm to add more fuel or air at certain rpm and sort of changes the original program of the ecm but there still exists an internal sort of feud netween the chip and the ecm.

so, and i always thought that once you reprogram the ecm chip with a new chip all changes and the ecm is now subserviant to the new chip.........but,

i am told that this is not correct ...and that the ecm still provides the main source of info.

are you confused ,more so now than before ???/because i am to some degree.

therefore ,do the ecm recall

I have one problem with the dealer I use. I Lemon Lawed my '05 Ultra due to a stalling concern which was not fixed after several attempts, so I had to go back to them for a new bike since they were the selling dealer. I worked the 103 Stage II into the deal. So when the parts became available, I had to take back to them for warr. purposes.

I also called H-D, and they highly suggested to have the recall done prior to the 103 Stage II software upgrade. I called the dealer and straightened everything out. Thanks guys.
