Default Fairing lowers on RKC

Does anyone have the vented fairing lowers on a RKC? Does it help with the wind buffeting? Seems like they should since they attach in the same general area as the vampire fangs.

If anyone has a pic as to the looks I would really appreciate it. I just worry about spending $700 and having something that ruins the "old school" looks of the RKC.

Feedback, positive or negative is really appreciated.

gives some leg protection from wind and weather.

fairing lowers help motor cooling mightily at speeds above 40 ish, they better order the air at the motor

wind buffeting?
one of the big issues on a bike with a windscreen is the low pressure area behind the windscreen, which causes air to rush into the low pressure area from the top/sides/below.

the larger the flat surface going forward, the larger the low pressure area ( and drag)

you may find that a smaller windscreen ( or none at all) gives a smoother riding experience---at least all the air is headed in the same direction.

Took the fork lowers off after I put the fairing lowers on my RKC hoping the fairing lowers would accomplish the same thing. Unfortunately, they do not control the wind coming around the fork and under the windscreen like the fork lowers. I modified my fork lowers, cut out a notch to fit around my fairing lowers, and put them back on.

Hey Rick, I'd love to see a picture of how you modified your fork deflectors, I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

I did the same thing as Rick. Take a drimmal tool and grind a notch in the wind deflector so you can turn your front end to the stop without hitting the lower. It works great allowing a calm pocket of air for the rider and passenger.
