I just bought my 2012 Street Glide and it seems like every 5 minutes a thread about 103''s sucking is made. How noisy should these things be? My 96" in my Deluxe was noisy, but not like these threads about 103 are stating. There are moving parts, injectors spitting and explosions going on in there, so I'd thing there should be some noise.
No issues with mine, no noisier than the 96 in '10 RKC, runs stronger, more power, and a dream after the stage one and a cat less head pipe. My only complaint ever was the heat from the cat, but that issue was resolved promptly.
Although my 103 is the noisiest Harley Ive owned (Ive owned 2- 88's and 2- 96's) I love the power this thing produces after I removed the cat and dyno tuned it.

my Pal stores his 2011 Limited with me in the winters, I ride it some- he rides it alot and we also tour together.
15K zero problems, headers, pipes, air cleaner SERT.
Noise/heat? you are sitting on top of a motor fer cripes sakes
Alot of Guys new to Harleys kinda freak out after riding an inline 4 or water cooled v twin... the modern bikes are the best ever-- I've had 5 older H-D's to compare to- now an 09 FLHTC is the main ride, but I have 4 other bikes/ 2 H-D's
( ---- and alot of guys try mechanical procedures they wouldn't think of doing on the minivan)

I really like the power of the 103, but I've got to say, I really miss my 96".
My 09 96" was quiet as a mouse. No ticking, no knocking, nothing. My 11 103" ticks and rattles its way down the highway. Really not enjoyable to ride. Then when I stop, I've gotta listen to the neutral rattle (loud as hell). All in all I'd give anything to get my 09 96" back.
