I`m thinking of buying a new streetglide, but i think my first mod will be to remove the front crashbars. i suspect they do a good job protecting some expensive plastic but i just don`t like em
the bike has so much mass that the crashbars get lost in the lines of the bike- they are also a part of the traditional look pre-dating the batwing fairing.
so that's the visual/historical take on it.
and it's a darn heavy bike, hundreds of pounds heavier than a dyna.
you don't need them until you need them, but they could save thousands in repairs and a leg or 2.
to test,
put something soft on the ground like a couple layers of packing blankets and let the bike roll ont the crashbars- you'll see what might be saved if some douche hits while parked, or if you have a mishap.
