canceling extend warranty
#21
I have a 23 month old 2010 FLHTK with 45,000 miles on it. I've had at least $15,000 worth of warranty work done so far, with over $2,000 worth of tires and labor covered. So the ESP has paid for itself just in tires. With all the crap that's gone wrong on this bike, and all the riding I do, I'll keep the ESP, thanks.

I just bought a 2012 Ultra. I wanted the extended warranty, but at the time of the purchase of the bike, I couldn’t afford it. then when I was told I could get the extended warranty right up to the last day of the 2 year plan, I smiled. Ill get one at the end of the warranty and see if im going to keep the bike or not

My take on ESP's is you are placing a 1500+ bet on your bike and the only way you win is if you have enough trouble to collect more than you paid. For some it's a good bet for others not so much. The ESP for HD's seems pretty unfair on it's prorata cancellation, I just cancelled a 2600 dollar Ford ESP, 6 year 72k miles at 3 years 7 months 30k miles and 1 claim on the warranty(radiator replacement) and received 975 dollars back

I have an 07 Ultra with 125,000 miles on it. The extended warranty has MORE than paid for itself three times over, plus I have 2 1/2 more years remaining. In that time I will put another 75,000 miles or more on it. I am willing to bet that in that time frame I use the warranty at least a couple times more. I think the majority of it boils down to miles. If you ride a lot of miles it will benefit you to have it. If you have one that doesn't get a whole lot of miles it is not going to pay off.....
