canceling extend warranty
I canceled my extened warranty for the fist month it would go in to. effect payed $1500.00 for it when bike was new . never needed to bring bike in for warranty work. Got a refund for $415.00 6 weeks later. Asked the dealer where the rest went . I was told it went to the extra warranty not covered by harley. Meaning wheels warranty. Called the Warranty co. when i asking for some sort written documation on where the rest of the money went
no answer to that . Was told the dealer didn't pay there part. Called the dealer again he got back whith me the next day saying it was a new employee mistake. I will be getting a nother credit of $450.00. Total back to me is $865.00. They have made to many to simular sow called mistakes in the past . for me to beleive this was a mistake. My question is does total refund $865.00. sound fair.

On the surface it seems like you are getting the shaft. But without knowing the terms and conditions of the extended warranty that you signed up for, I can't really say.
Either way I'd be a little pissed. Either at them for screwing you, or at yourself for signing the agreement that you didn't fully understand.

Same thing happened to me (I bought the extended warranty for $1500)!
Bought my bike in May...2009 Ultra. It is now November and I have had it in the shop for front wheel bearings, compensator, radio & antenna replaced, brake switch (before recall), rear cylinder head, valves & guides, plus all the gasket bearings, springs and crap that go along with the repairs...still got a year and a half left on that warranty puppy.
I think I will keep it and sell the bike when it runs out.
Glad to hear you got your money back.

What A lot of people don't realize is that when you purchase an extended warranty it goes into effect when you buy it, not after your original warranty runs out. So while you had a 2 year all inclusive warranty, you were paying for another one that was not being used. This is why it is very important to read the fine print, and not assume anything, the money you recieved back seems about right. That's the reason I don't usaually buy an extended warranty until the factory warranty is over, if I buy one.

this spring i bought a 2008 FLHRC I bought a 2 year extended service contract . that i pay for monthly with my bike payment i can cancel it anytime . so far i used it once for a failed front wheel bearing . they replaced that and did a few other minor things for the $50 deductable ... a cpl more claims and the extended service has paid for itself. and if theres any major problems its GOLD.
