I just got off the phone with Harley Davidson Extented Service. This company is a 3rd party warranty service. There phone number is 1-800-527-7665, if you would like to call them.
I will attempt to repeat exactly what the customer service told me about doing a simple Stage 1 on my 2009 EGC.
1) If I put an aftermarket tuning on my bike this will void the power train warranty.
2) Also, don't assume if the tuner is sold by a dealer that the power train warranty is good.
3) The tuner has to have a stop sign icon or a traffic sign icon next to it, too not void the power train warranty.
4) If the tuner has a checkerd flag for race next to it, this product will void the power train warranty.
I do not like it, but is what he said. Please call them and verify that if you like.
And, maybe I understood all of this wrong.
Thanks

Have you tried going through your dealer, instead of calling HD's ESP directly?
I always heed the advice of Howard Clark on extended warranties. That is, don't buy one on anything that already has a warranty. If it will last the life of the factory warranty without failure, the failure rate beyond that is an extremely small percentage.

I wonder if Harley warranty is like the warranty I had on a Toyoto truck I had ? I had the extened coverage but traded the truck off long before the warranty expired . The Toyoto dealership told me I could get a refund back for the warranty after it was pro rated , I had paid 1500 for the extended coverage , about a year into it I got about 850, back . If so I think I may cancel my extended warranty with Harley , after reading all these comments I dont think Harley will stand behind anything . I did buy the bike second hand and it did have engine work done , cam tunner , exhaust etc. I was told when I bought the bike it would all be covered because the work was all done by that dealership but now I dont think I can trust them .

I noted the Proverbs verse under your post. Tell you what, dealing with HD can indeed dry ones bones!
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
I have inquired about this also...it seems we get various answers from dealerships. In the end it is going to be up to the dealer you use for warranty work, I believe.
When I did the big bore, they said if I did one of the HD "stage" packages I was covered. An aftermarket (non SE) tuner would void my warranty if I had a fuel related issue.
They were sticky about the "stage" thing, even went so far as to say a stage 2 kit (with cams) installed by dealer would be covered, but only if I went with the HD pipes that come with the stage 2 setup. They agreed that this was silly, but that was how it worked.
I basically got the extended warranty for free when I bought the bike, and I plan to have over 150,000 miles on the bike when the 7 years are up, so that is more important to me than a bunch of power mods. Besides, I'm more than happy with 103 stage 1.
I was told my more then one dealer that anything installed my a dealer within 6 months is cover by the factory warrantee and that would cross over to the extended one but I know Dealership never lair(HA HA HA). At Smokey Mountain Harley in Tenn they have a package they sell with Cams, exhaust, Tuner removable tour pak etc. which they say is covered.
My experience is any parts installed by the dealer within the first 60 days are covered under the original 2 year HD warranty.

If HD denies any kind of coverage on my bike, I will cancel mine too.
This thread basically confirms why I didn't buy an extended warranty, I figure anything major will probably go wrong in the first couple of years (20-30k for me), anything after that, I plan to modify the bike, so if I haven't addressed it in the mod, I'll just take my chances, I've been riding bikes for over 40 years and it's worked so far, so why change?
You modify the bike, the parts you modify aren't going to be warrantied, nor are any aftermarket parts. And before people start waving the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act around, be aware that it has nothing to do with modifying your bike, and everything to do with how warranties work, and what replacement parts and maintenance items the manufacturer can and can't require you to use.
Once you take it upon yourself to start re engineering your bike, your warranty (or parts of it) may be in jeopardy. Most dealers won't care about a Stage 1, but some might, and that's they're right.
First off, I bought the bike with these parts and to back that up is that these are stock SE Ultra floorboards. So , not trying to sound overly insulting, how do you figure that they CAN'T back up their product in addition to an extra 3 year warrany?
So just to update this CF, I spoke to the dealer, who spoke to the owner at same time, this afternoon and they sent out their pick up truck and took it in for them to look at it. They are going to contact the ESP and let me know back in a day r 2.
I would not be having such a time with this if I had owned it since factory. But damn, I just bought it 10-4-11 and it broke with in 3 weeks of owning it and the wife was able to ride it 2 times!!!
