Bullshit
I just got off the phone with Harley Davidson Extented Service. This company is a 3rd party warranty service. There phone number is 1-800-527-7665, if you would like to call them.
I will attempt to repeat exactly what the customer service told me about doing a simple Stage 1 on my 2009 EGC.
1) If I put an aftermarket tuning on my bike this will void the power train warranty.
2) Also, don't assume if the tuner is sold by a dealer that the power train warranty is good.
3) The tuner has to have a stop sign icon or a traffic sign icon next to it, too not void the power train warranty.
4) If the tuner has a checkerd flag for race next to it, this product will void the power train warranty.
I do not like it, but is what he said. Please call them and verify that if you like.
And, maybe I understood all of this wrong.
Thanks

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger!!!!! I just got off the horn with those FKsticks about my passenger floorboard falling off my 09 Screaming Eagle Ultra I just bought on 10-5-11 due to a recalled bolt breaking off on the bracket.
Had the Vin ran to check the bolt recall and mine did not fall into the class noted. Just the other Ultra's and EGC's. Don't they all come out of the same bucket at factory!?!?!?!?!? So I had gotten the 3yr Ext. warranty also. Call up Dipshxt and tell him what happened. He tells me that it is a frame problem and that it is not covered!!! I ask how it is not covered when it is clearly a equipment failure and not driver error. He more or less tells me "Yeah" and off we go.
Spoke to dealership and have not heard anything back yet. I have not touched the bracket other than to take it off the bike. Am not going to be able to ride for some time now, so we will see.

Not to sound overly insulting, but......Duh.
You modify the bike, the parts you modify aren't going to be warrantied, nor are any aftermarket parts. And before people start waving the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act around, be aware that it has nothing to do with modifying your bike, and everything to do with how warranties work, and what replacement parts and maintenance items the manufacturer can and can't require you to use.
Once you take it upon yourself to start re engineering your bike, your warranty (or parts of it) may be in jeopardy. Most dealers won't care about a Stage 1, but some might, and that's their right.

I was told my more then one dealer that anything installed my a dealer within 6 months is cover by the factory warrantee and that would cross over to the extended one but I know Dealership never lair(HA HA HA). At Smokey Mountain Harley in Tenn they have a package they sell with Cams, exhaust, Tuner removable tour pak etc. which they say is covered.
I've posted om this subject before
1.) it is a 3rd party, not H-D.
1a) will they be in business when you make a claim
1b.) their contract denotes what you can and can't change ( virtually any mod violates the contract
1.c) most contracts do not even do anything while the factory 2 year warranty is in place
2.) statements made by the dealer are as good as the paper written on-- no paper, no good
3.) the contact is not available online and can usually only be seen at the place of purchase OR sometimes the full contract is mailed out after you have paid.
extended warranties play on a buyer's fears, don't be a sucker
defeating or modifying the electronic controls is a real problem- a mistuned or malfunctioning tuner can destrooy the motor--- and I can kinda see how a warranty service company doesn't want to hear about it if you valves go through the pistons at 7000 rpm, or a lean mixture burns a hole through the piston, on an over rich mixture washes down the cylinders, welding the rings or destroying the bearings...or a low idle results in low oil pressure/ volume
any of these and you really are on your own
or do only changes which are easily reversable- air cleaner, mufflers and a tuner that can be removed before going in for service-- I kept my stock a/c and mufflers and use XIEDS which plug in, and remove in seconds

I've bought 4 new Harleys over the years and proceeded to void the warranties almost immediately! At least in theory. Only problem I ever had was a starter going out on the 2004 Sporster. It was replaced under warranty-only took 10 days and they Fudged up several other things that I had to fix in the process....Extended warranty? Maybe if I bought an Ultra-mainly for the electronics, but I'm not old enough for one of those yet-hee hee....
board landed on my exhaust managed to grab it before it was gone.
I replaced both of them with american made allen head sockets
my bike is a 2005 electraglide
when I drilled and extracted it I had to do the whole process again to get the rest of it. I kept that bolt all three parts.
