Question removing the inner dash chrome trim kit

I am getting some work done to my bike at the dealer. They are installing, a painter inner fairing, and the Zumo GPS setup like the CVo bikes have on them. I currently have the stock inner fairing and speakers. I put on the chrome grill trip and the guages trim rings. I also installed the larger chrome piece that goes around the radio. I tried to remove it but its stuck good. The dealer said they never have gotten one off without wrecking it. I tld them to leave it on the inner fairing for me to remove. anyone have any luck removing these? thanks Jeff

i would try using a hair blow dryer and heating it up from both sides and see if that works.

I got mine off with no damage. Had the radio out started from the back and very slowly pulled it off. A hair dryer might help.

When I repainted my inner fairing I used a heat gun and a small flat headed screw driver. Took my time and they come off with no issues. I put them back on with standard clear silicone. Been two years and no issues.

I had a hard time with me and destroyed it in the process, it was on for about 30+ thousand miles and seemed to be very prone to rust, I did not put another one on for that reason.

+1 on the hair dryer!!!! have done it bout 5-6 times for various bikes for paint and replace the inner and it works great. TAKE YOUR TIME AND BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!! DO NOT HURRY IT!!!!!!!!! If you can, put a painters light on it first at a safe distance and let that begin the process as you find something to do for 20-30 minutes (imitates the sun heating it up) and then come back with the dryer and it works like a charm.

You are paying all that for a new painted faring and all, so why not tell the dealer to put on a new trim kit in the process? Then factor in a price for the old trim kit and sell it as-is, attached, with the old inner faring. These kits are not that expensive anyway. When you remove them you weaken significantly the adhesive backing. Plus you run the risk of creasing them or bending them beyond repair and it's just not worth the time and aggravation.
