Even if all evidence points elsewhere, I would install a new bulb. I've had them fool me before. Using "process of elimination" troubleshooting, that's where to start. Besides, it's easy and it'll give you peace of mind.
My $0.02
+1 on the new bulb.
Disclaimer: Love to ride but I am not mechanically inclined.
Within two weeks of picking up my new bike, it displayed the symptoms you describe. It ended up being the bulb. Other functions worked (e.g. the flashers) but the bulb has two filaments; the turn signal filament was the only one burned out. Dealer put the new bulb in for me, took two minutes and good to go.
So...did this problem ever get resolved?....my left running light doesn't work on my 2003 Night Train, but the turn signal works fine....switching bulbs with the right side, shows the bulbs are both good...but left side running light just doesn't work...
For me, the signal wouldn't work. I cleaned out the switch with contact cleaner and haven't had a problem since. <knocks on wood>
This problem happened right after I washed the bike, so that may have been a contributing factor. Plus, using a leaf blower to dry off the bike probably doesn't help, either.
Hey everyone, I'm new here and new to the Harley world! Anyway, my left blinkers aren't working, nor, is the left side doing anything for that matter. Right side works perfectly. Even with hazards engaged the left side doesn't do anything, doesn't even blink on the dash. It just faintly flickers and the lights don't flicker at all but nothing happens other that that. I didn't know whether just one bad bulb would cause that, doesn't seem like it would though. I've looked at the wiring and didn't see anything that looked out of the ordinary to me. Any ideas what could be causing that?
It just faintly flickers /quote]that sounds like a dirty or broken ground wire
I think it may be the TSM, I ran a diagnosis with the DTC and it shows code B1121 for TSM? If the right blinker is on it will cancel it when I hit the left but still does nothing else. The right light flashes a sequence of blinks on startup. Any idea how hard it is to change the tsm? I think it's behind the battery cover between the rear fender, does that sound right? I've looked everywhere and unplugged almost everything and blew it out with compressed air that I could easily get to.
Ok, so its been a few months since i got on here, but, the problem has been fixed. I removed the rear fender and found that my back tire had rubbed the wires to my blinker bare and they were grounding out! Unfortunately, the rubbed so close to the blinker housing that they were unrepairable...in short, I bought new ones and replaced/wired in a new set. It will eventually happen again due to the placement of the lights on the fender(custom cut on stock fender) I guess the only fix for that is to relocate turn signals to the frame somewhere.
Anyway, thanks for all the input guys...very much appreciated!!
I had same issue. Right tail light turn signal was not blinking. But only stayed solid. I simply went to local supply store and purchased pair 1157 light bulbs. Popped them in. Good as new. Bad or burned light bulb tends to mess up signal module
