So as of right now I'm Going to be putting 14" wild 1 chubby's on my 2010 road king. The question I have is what cables are best for the money? I've got a price quote for Magnum chromite II's for 275 and barnetts for 325. Also can get LA choppers for 210... Now is there that big of a difference between the quality of one over the other for the price? Second question is... Does anyone know of slip-ons that don't require a stage one upgrade? Looking to get a little more sound out of the road king but with that cat is it even possible? I want that good deep rumble at idle and take off. Any help would bve much appreciated!
I have American custom exhaust on my street glide and like the sound. I have read a lot about Rush exhaust here on the forum too. The American custom is a swap out or you can keep your factory ones and buy the exhaust outright. http://www.americancustom.com/
As for the cables, I have the stainless braided barnetts on my street glide and my wife has motion pro cables. Her brake line is starting to turn color though. Watch which ones you buy cause some of them don't get lubed. They have a teflon coating on the inner cable and cable lube makes them sticky.
Can't speak on cables, I was satisfied with getting the LA Choppers ones when I ordered my Prime Apes.
As far as pipes, maybe look at the Supertrapp Stouts that are designed to work with the CAT. Make tons of power bolt on. Rush would be another good option. Look at 2.5" baffles if you are keeping your CAT, but if you ever choose to remove it, you just have to put in 2.0" baffles.
I actually got the HD Diamondback cables through Zanotti at 20% off. They are bright with a nice clearcoat on them and seem to be good quality. I had a set of Barnett and they look dull compared to the HD ones.
My wife works at the local Harley dealership in motorclothes... so she gets at cost plus 20% off but the diamondbacks are still more expensive than the others! Even with her discount.
