103 vs 96 heat
I get 50 mpg with all three. Gasoline has 115,000 BTU's/gal. In 50 miles all three have generated 115,000 BTU's of heat which is dissipated by the fins, oil cooler and all parts of the bike that incur heat soak. But a lot of that heat goes out the exhaust also.
Therefore none of them run hotter than the other. PERIOD! End of story.
It is a myth that one is hotter than the other.
If it is not true, get an infrared temp gun and post a scientific study of the heat ranges of the motors under identical conditions.
Opinions are like rear ends. Everyone has one. Lets have some quantitative data for once.
if you look at online forums for ANY bike, there are many complaints about excessive heat. I find it laughable that people complain about the heat on new harley's. I've had quite a few bikes hotter on the rider than my 2011 FLHP!
still a relevant thread even for today's used bike shopper 2020
im about to add another flh to keep my 2004 RKing company.
I started out just wanting an Electra glide with the newer 09 frame. Now I'm all over the place on twin cam sizes. 96-103, just can't swing a m8 unless I go another R-King.
Man I'm wondering if any year/motor really matters. I'm just gonna have to fix one problem or another, depending on what year I get.
im starting to think, just get the newest, best shape bike, that calls my name when I lay eyes in it. To heck with the year or features, other than I do want the 09 or newer frame.
How hot is the 103, compared to the 88?
