I don't have any lag on mine. As a matter of fact it's a lil too sensitive. When I'm going over washboard bumps my throttle isn't that steady so I get surges at every bump. That didn't happen with my carb/cable bike

Try a part-throttle roll-on in first or second gear at an rpm that puts you in the powerband. That would be a way to tell. Not saying that's your case, but that is a way to feel it.
I remember test driving a first-year Gallardo and it seemed obvious it had TBW.
Have ridden every year TBW & YES, there is a lag,and it's annoying enough that I held out for an '07. Would NOT own a TBW bike. Have hated every one I ever rode (Harley demos)

I dont notice any lag in my 2012 glide compared to my 2011 softail but I have a power vision on the glide from fuel moto, maybe that took care of it. I like the tbw the less wires and cables hanging off the apes the better, thats what I think.
I will join the people that have stated they don't notice any lag. Didn't have a lag on mine even before I installed the PCV. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but isnt the TBW system necessary or make it easier to integrate the electronic cruise control?
Honest to God, I really think some folks just don't trust tech. I can't tell one bit of difference from a cable bike to TBW. Also like the cleaner look.
Some would prefer no ABS, no FI, no rear cyl shutdown, well, you get the idea.

Might as well put in some mechanical points, along with a good set of drum brakes and be happy.
