Default feedback on ordering ohlins

Yesterday I was looking at a shock thread and a guy posted about having to sell his ohlins #2-#3 shocks. I pmd him and said I may be interested but I was going to call Howard first. So this morning I called Howard and we got to talking. He said the #2-#3 would work for me but they are a taller shock. This isn't what I wanted. He recommend the #3 shocks for the money. With the discounts he offers its really a no brainer to go with #3's. I will have to start a new thread in about 5 months to review the shock itself. I just wanted to give feedback on talking with Howard. He was honest with me and I didn't feel like I was car shopping. His payment methods are all there but he doesn't pay paypal fees or credit card fees and I don't want to either so he will be paid by check. He told me a shock off the shelf (progressive, ect) will flat out not be worth my while.
I also asked Howard about the front end suspension he is working on. He said he needed more money to continue to work on these. He compared them to a shock is used in a Ducati. He said they will be expensive. So for now I think I will just leave the front end alone. Thought about throwing some race tech's in there while I have it tore apart this winter, but I havent found a good review on them. I searched for info but came up short. Once again this forum has me spending money on the street glide.

Howard's solution is to use modified 49mm forks which also need new top and bottom trees. An orderly queue is forming and cheering Howard on! Meanwhile buy those shocks so he can plough his profits into those forks.....

Welcome aboard! Some of us are out here doing the same, we just like to spread the pain and rope others in!

I plan to get Ohlins also, will probably end up with a 3-1 because I want a short shock. Progressive may not be great for the rear, but I love the montubes for the front, you might want to give them a try.

the Ohlins #3-#3 in the back I love , I am running Progressive monotubes up front and while they are not on the level with the rear I am very happy with this combination

I have #2-#2A short shock, but has 3 1/4" stroke! I also have the Race Tech up front lowered 1". This ultimatly gave me a 1" lowered stance over all, with the rear being 1/8" lower than the front. Best of all is that my suspension is miles ahead of most anyone I ride with even the new bikes.

Race Tech feedback: They are a huge improvement over stock and they were definatly worth the $. I installed them before the Ohlins and noticed then how bad the rear stock shocks were. The front was so good and the rear so bad.

Then I installed the Ohlins and went through the breaking in period also learning my adjustments. Now the rear is soooo much better, that the front is the weaker of the two. Ultimatly my ride is really great! and I was able to achieve the look I was after also.

Although I do have my eye on these, http://www.traxxion.com/harleydavidsonforkrelated.aspx

I'm stuck between the monotubes and race tech. I'm doing the Chrome front end this winter so one of the 2 is going in

I hear ya man. Its never ending. The good thing is, so far all the add ons I've done have been great! I've read about a lot of folks buying stuff and not being happy with it. Costly.
