Question 1992 Ultra Engine Question

A buddy of mine has a 1992 Ultra Classic with a blown block. Dont know the details on the damage.. just that the block needs to be replaced.

His relative has a lead on a engine from a 1995 Ultra....

Both are within the Evo timeline... anyone know if these are 100% compatible for a one for one swap?

Any issues we may not be thinking of?

Thanks!

The 1995 is a head breather, the 92 is not, but that is about the only difference- it should just "plug in" ( slight differences if the 95 is EFI)

the 92's were of the era with porous case problem and spinning leftside bearings

option: the H-D remanufacturing program for the 92, get all new everything and new cases with the correct VIN.

That may be a smart way to go if the bike is going to be kept.

Imagine going to Sturgis or one of the other bike destinations and having the cops seize your bike because the frame and motor numbers don't add up ( although probably carrying a notarized bill of sale for the motor would solve that)

or S&S who have the premier name in motors.

I see new S&S motors pop up on my local craigslist once in a while for cheap- sometimes Guys buy for projects that never complete
With the failure or Titan and Swift cycles in AZ, there are a LOT of parts floating around- the caveat is that some S&S motors are assembled by S&S, some are assembled by the "cycle manufacturer" not my first choice.

Just make sure the motor in the 95 is worth having --- not been worked on by fools etc.
