I don't think the stock compensator for an 05 has any kind of replacement other than another part just like it. I just replaced my compensator spring pack today and noticed the new one didn't rattle like the old one did after 60K. Apparently, the spring compresses over time leaving room for it to rattle around in there.

Yep read alot on the comps! But no bang on startup, and haven't seen anything on clunking sound!

Might I add to install an automatic primary chain adjuster while in there, and if you do replace the starter drive, be very sure you install the ball and spring inside the shaft. I listened to the parts guy who said the new one came with them. My fault for not checking.

Anyone got a part number or source? And has this replacement tensioner been proven over time? Is that it in Itch's primary picture? I'll be replacing my comp in a couple of weeks and I will install one of these if it's definitely the way to go compared to the stock shoe tensioner. Thanks for any info.

I dont have a part number but i have 98,000 miles on my original tensioner. There is a revision from the first auto tensioner but dont have that number either.

Im at work so I dont have access to a part number, but I run the stock HD one, have 40k and when I pulled it apart to install the SE Comp there was hardley any wear on the shoe, I put a new chain in for GP and the new chain adjustment was the same as the one I took out. There will be a lot of different opinions about an adjuster on the forum, but Im running 111/115 for over 4 years and never had an issue.
If Im not mistaken the auto adjusters were standard from 07 on.

Teeth look good. Still thinking its a starter clutch or corroded solenoid.
