I called Progressive for their advice on the std height monotubes. I was told for my application to use 3 clips. When they arrived, I only had enough clips for 2 per side, so I called Progressive. I obviously didn't get the same person, as the second guy said they would never recomend 3 clips. So now, I've been told 'by progressive' 3 clips the first time, and 2 clips the second time
My questions are:
1 - if you're running the std height monotubes, how many clips are you running
2 - are you happy with the setup, or do the number of clips need to be changed
3 - how much 1 up/2 up riding do you do
4 - and 1up/2 up riding weight
I hope I only have to do this once...thanks in advance for any advice
I'm not answering any of your questions, but there are some good threads on this. Search monotubes. I too am going to install them this winter. I'll report back later
I just had mine installed with two clips and it rides great compared to the stock ride and no more brake dive. I ride 95% solo and weigh 220.
My box only came with the clips for two, I believe the three clips might be for the lowered shocks.
Also my bike ride well and just the right firmness, I think if I would have went with one clip it would not have been firm enough.
the standards only come with 2 c clips , the lowered come with 3 , I am running the standard with 2 c clips , I weigh 240 lbs and ride solo 70% , my wife is 125lbs , it rides nice solo and 2 up , if I was to change anything it would be to add a 3rd c clip as I like very firm forks , for most people 2 is perfect
My confusion came from getting two different answers from Progressive. I've read most, if not all of the threads on the monotubes. The majority of them are about the lowered tubes. Very few gave any weight/1 up/2 up info. Being pretty much in the middle of hd and tj, I believe I'm going to try 2 clips. I want to thank you both, you each made a statement that helped with my decision.
hd w/2 clips "just the right firmness"
tj about a 3rd clip..."I like very firm forks"
Thanks a lot...
