Your tank is easy to take off. You should do it just so you know how. It is far from one of those last resort things.

what are you trying to do?

If it is get audio from a device in the tourpak to the radio, how about an FM modulator?

Tank is simple to remove. Undo 4 bolts, pop off quick disconnect fuel line, unplug couple connectors and lift right off. Do it when almost empty and it doesn't weigh much.

I like the idea. Definitely interested. The 2012 Ultra Limited has the necessary 12 volt source in the tour pak. Is there also an (relatively) easy way to add the 12 volt source to older (2007) tour paks?

Just remove the console along the top of the tank.
There's enough room to run several additional wires there.
Just follow the wires that are in there now and tie wrap them together.
I've run several wires through there already.
Aux, GPS audio connector, satellite antenna, etc.
All done to connect via a Mix-It sound board which enables me to connect and boost multiple devices through the aux port.

IPod wireless FM transmitter. Then listen on a FM setting over the radio.
