So this 09 had some slip-ons/SE intake/ SE Pro Super tuner. When I got it he took the slip-ons off. The SE air cleaner is still installed and I'm ASSUMING the tune was left in it. All I got was the little box and the black SE tuner box.
On to the point, I bought my "knock-off" CFR slip-ons and put them on and no way is it as loud as my 07....I did have the exact same slip-ons on my 07 FLHX that had the stock headpipes with the fullsac mod and SE AC and simple XIED's.
Runs fine...does not have the volume the 07 did, no doubt.
It's every bit as deep but more quiet. Even on acceration and between shifts it is noticeably quieter.
What's the deal? Are the stock 09 headpipes holding it back?
What's the most affordable way to do a true dual mod to open this up?
Both the 07 and 09 are stock bikes. All mods listed are it.
Both are east coast bikes...if this 09 has a cat I could look for it I guess. Where would it be in the headpipe?
It would be in the headpipe, but look on the frame. Since it is 09, if it were a Cali bike it would say so on the sticker. Something like California emissions
I found the collector where the head pipes and rear pipes meet and separate. I stuck a pole all the way up to the bend in the head pipe and there is nothing in there.
I know it's not a Ca emissions bike, I was just curious if by chance they(previous owner) threw a newer Ca or '12 exhaust back on it. Strange things happen. The guy did buy a '12 limited so the possibility was there.
Still, there is no denying this one is quieter with the same slip-ons. Maybe it's the tune or maybe it's the stock head pipe. I did the fullsac and CFR's on the 07 at the same time. I have no reference as to what it sounded like with the stock 07 head pipes and the CFR's.
That'll work for a buck and a half..
A cam change might be in order too.
I'm thinkin' about a Dragula 2-1..myself..
That would probably get me around 90 HP and a ton TQ.. at least I would think..
A good 2-1 generally kicks every other pipes ***.. hands down..no contest..
Have you noticed how the left side of the bike shakes more than does the right side?
