RE: what is the crackling sound when i park bike ?
LOL...This happened to me when I put Thunderheaders on my bike. I thought something was wrong with my engine. My Thunderheaders might not be the highest quality but they sure turn heads when I am cruising!
ORIGINAL: GTK
You will notice this noise is more prevelent with aftermarket mufflers. The less quality, the more noise you will hear when you shut the bike off.Original factory mufflers and top end aftermarket mufflers tend to be a lot quieter during cool down.

Interesting, as the popping noises weren't as bad when I went from the SEII pipes on my Glide to the Thunderheaders.....
It did throw me off when I first took my Glide home, as I didn't recall hearing it that much on my 03 Lowrider. It freaked me out a little bit too at first......

80 degrees? I'll let you know if my bike makes that noise when it's 80 degrees outside, I guess it'll be about seven more months and 70 more degrees. I'm just jealous that's all.

RE: what is the crackling sound when i park bike ?
28 degrees .....
i have ridden , many times , as low as 10 degrees with my electric vest and gloves on my 1982 bmw r100rs and even in the snow.
but that was over 10 years ago and one time we had to go into a car wash and hose ourselves down to get rid of all the snow crud and salt ,the biike got and we got it .
and ,in conn. back roads ..
now , harley and florida ...........
and by the way ,the new harley is a great improvement .....i have the street glide and i believe that with the fairing ,the heated grips and the electric vest, pants and socks ,you can ride as low as zero degrees ,,,,but ,,,, i think that the alternator with only 355 watts cannot handle all of that ............
so, again, my harley and florida and 80 degrees................
