take the backrest off the bracket and drill the mounting holes higher by an inch...that will relieve her legs
ORIGINAL: IAMSWUTIAMS
I put one on my bike last weekend. It's tha adjustable one that matches the comfort stitch seat. I love it. My wife hates it, says it spreads her legs out and is uncomfortable for her. Now what?
I have the adjustable back rest and had the same complaint from the wife, then I found that there is a button in the middle on the back side of the pad, it allows you to raise and lower the pad, put it in full up position when riding with the wife and she is fine with it.

Installed the HD adjustable backrest on my 03 RKC in about 45 minutes last spring... next to the 95cu inches, it is by far the best upgrade I've made to it. The 07 FLHTCUSE2 came with one so no comments there. Took my wife's 04 FXST out for a ride the other day (no back rest) and after about 20 minutes my back started whining - you will get used to it being there!!! Before the back rest I used to dread any ride of 500 miles or so (Phoenix, Denver, or Las Vegas), as my back and shoulders start hurting around 500 miles - with the back rest that just doesn't happen anymore.
