I run with 2 seats, One for local riding and a second for touring The touring seat
is gel filled and the backrests slip out for easy on and off. My back is shot so the
backrest is necessary. My bike is set up to swap seats in minutes so it makes it
easier than on some bikes.

One option could be have a seat builder/upholestery shop uncover your seat and
install a Corbin style insert mount and add a flap over the hole. It's cost effective
and beats some of the bulky looking rail mount options. If you do add the mount,
they can add a gel pad at the same time.

I would not be without it. I had one on my road king and I put the adjustable backrest installed before I picked up my Ultra. If you have the extra $$$ get the adjustable I have really liked having it.

We have an 02 RK. With the adjustable rest, does it take up passenger space?

take the backrest off the bracket and drill the mounting holes higher by an inch...that will relieve her legs

I put one on my bike last weekend. It's tha adjustable one that matches the comfort stitch seat. I love it. My wife hates it, says it spreads her legs out and is uncomfortable for her. Now what?
Thanks, I'll have a look at that

I have the adjustable back rest and had the same complaint from the wife, then I found that there is a button in the middle on the back side of the pad, it allows you to raise and lower the pad, put it in full up position when riding with the wife and she is fine with it.
