Default negitive batery wire

How do you get to the ground wire under the starter. I have tried every wrench i have. I can't get my hand in. sockets are too tall combo wrench
is wrong angle. Do i have to remove the battery box to get to it?

Are you able to drill a hole in the battery box so you can get a socket right onto it???
You can make a big hole cause the battery will never fall through it!
Hatch.

I like Hatch's idea. Removing the battery is an inconvenience for sure, but worth it when you can avoid a lot of other aggravation. Probably a good idea to inspect your battery terminals and clamps anyway. Plus you will be assured that you can properly torque that connection once you re-install.

The nut is to far under the starter to get a socket on. Looks like i will have to make a wrench or take the tray all the way out.

That is not a ground wire. The starter grounds when it bolts to the primary. The bottom wire is what powers the motor when the solenoid is pulled in. The only wire you need to disconect is the one on top coming from the battery. IT IS HOT so disconect it from the battery first. The lower wire will come out with the starter moter assy. SEE service manual.

I'm not at the house...but I removed it from the right side (opposite of primary) using basic tools. Have an 07.

It is the ground wire from the battery to the top of the tranny under the starter.

Sorry wolfman thought you were trying to undo the power wire. It is pretty far under there and can't really get to it with the starter installed. I don't have that ground on my bike.
