Unhappy Heritage Bars Installation Issue

I installed a set of Heritage style bars on my 2010 RK yesterday. It's a straight forward job except for the wires inside the old bars...the green connector got stuck in the bend where the indentation is. I sawed the into the bended portion to get the connector freed up, then the rest was pretty easy.
Stuffing the connectors back in was a PITA! After I got it all done...batt hooked back up etc, NO START! (no fuel pump, and no starter actuation)

I think my right hand controls are not connected properly...

Has anybody else had this issue?

You'll just have to go over your work.

Swapping bars leads to many posts here about stuff not working afterwards.

it is very fiddly

when fishing wires through bars it is often easier to push a length of heat shrink tubing through the bars, gather all the ends together, slide a few inches of heat shrink tubing over the ends to bundle them
shrink it,
then pull the shrink back through

Check the housing on the right hand controls. I had a similar problem and all it was is that the wires got caught up between the housing and were pinched.

When I did this bar change on my 2011, my wires just pushed all the way through with absolutley no problems. You have pinched a wire, most likely where the front brake perch meet and screw together!

I will try that. I believe it's the "run" switch thats not functioning. Thanks.

OMG! lol, I switched from the heritage bars back to my stock bars, I didn't like them. I don't know you, but, if I were you I would have taken it to the dealer. Just sayin'

I just took it slow and the wires pulled straight through on my 10 king. I was a pain to get it around the bend, but not impossible and no sawing was involved. I also didn't disconnect the battery and everything fired up like a charm. I would slowly go over all your connections, I bet something is just hooked up wrong

The "Heritage Style" bars for the Roadking suck! Go with the 09-11 Softail Heritage bars & you'll be a happy camper! The bars are under $60 & require a little modifying for the TBW but well worth the effort. HD Part # 56569-09.

A picture is worth a thousand words. RK Heritage Style bars vs Softail HERITAGE bars. Any questions as to which is more comfortable?

Great reply - in that picture, the softtail bars are in the back right? What did you have to modify on the TBW? Thank you, Brent.

You have to cut the notches in the end of the right bar for the tbw. You also have to drill a hole in the bottom of the bars for the tbw to exit the bars. You have a template to use by having your stock handlebars or by using the pos "heritage style" bars. They are a great set of inexpensive bars & require nothing else. FYI- The clutch cable is at it's limit in length however but will work fine by removing the guide that is mounted on the nacelle. It creates no danger however but other than that, it's a great mod & inexpensive too!

Yep, Softail bars are the ones in the back.
