Is it possible to convert a factory dual exhaust into a 2 into 1 by eliminating the left side. I like the look of single exhaust.
Will there be any adverse affects? Power increase or loss? Heat issues?

Any thoughts?
Yeah, the "y" pipe from the rear head, just put a freeze plug from Canadian Tire in there- be careful that you don't hammer anything too hard the Y is prone to crack if stressed and you don't want to apply any stress to the exhaust port.
If you like it after trying in out, you could remove the pipe, cut the unused left side back and weld in a permanent plug.
You will get better results with a purpose built header ( configured so as both front and rear head pipes are the same length), but your mod is cost effective fer sure.
I'm on the cheap as I have spent my fun money on a SE 255 cam install including buying the tools for inner bearing removal/install and buying a PV tuner. I do want a proper 2 into 1 but that will come in time as funds are available.
Yes you can do it. I did it a few years back and it worked great. Simply remove your left side pipe and plug the headpipe with a freeze plug. Tap it in, no need to weld it. Slide the left exhaust back on and ride.
